Uncovering the Truth About Depleted Uranium Shells

Despite abiding by the “rules” of war while serving in the U.S. military, I always thought the rules of war bordered on absurdity. For instance, in a declared war, it’s totally fine to kill another human… But only with a certain type of weapon.

The argument is that certain classes of weapons are inhumane — but the act of killing itself is totally fine.

I get it. Ideally, the rule makers want death with as little pain and suffering as possible.

But by that logic, nuclear weapons would be the most humane weapon on the planet; at least for those fortunate enough to be inside the blast radius.

Maybe I’m overthinking it, but sometimes I feel like there’s someone at the U.N. with a top hat and a monocle saying, in classic British received pronunciation, “Let’s have a civilized war, boys.”

Speaking of the British, there has been a lot of news lately about the UK’s donation of “inhumane” depleted uranium (DU) tank rounds to Ukraine.

Russia has even protested this gift, calling it an “escalation.”

Talk about absurdity…

For many in the public, uranium is largely a mystery; except that many automatically attribute the rock to nuclear weapons or radiation. So, in their minds, it stands to…
