Ukraine to Receive Tridon Mk2 Air Defense System!
When I’m overcaffeinated, I tend to get moderately excited when Ukraine gets its hands on a new piece of Western tech. Today is one of those days:
What’s the news? Ukraine is about to get the Tridon Mk2, a Swedish-built 40mm anti-aircraft gun, with programmable airburst ammo, that can shred Russian Shahed drones and subsonic missiles.
On September 18th, Forces News reported that Ukraine will receive the Tridon Mk2 as part of a $836 million Swedish support package. The package includes radar sensors, command systems, and specialized programmable ammunition to maximize the Tridon’s effectiveness.
Sweden hinted at giving Ukraine the Tridon early in 2025, but now we have a timeline: Ukraine will receive an unspecified number of units in the next two months.
And Sweden’s Defense Minister Pål Jonson even teased that not everything in the package was disclosed. His exact words: “The Russian army can expect Swedish-Ukrainian surprises.”
