Ukraine Just Wiped Out Three North Korean Koksan Artillery in One Strike
On March 18th, 2025, Ukraine’s 14th Independent Drone Regiment delivered a brutal wake-up call to both Moscow and Pyongyang: three North Korean M1989 Koksan self-propelled howitzers were struck and put out of commission in Russia’s Kursk region.
The attack, filmed and proudly published by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, was clean, calculated, and devastating.
And while the exact munition used hasn’t been officially confirmed, reports suggest it was likely a HIMARS-launched M30 cluster rocket, directed with chilling precision by reconnaissance drones.
It’s the kind of strike that sends a clear message: We know where your toys are, and we’re not afraid to break them.
The Strike: High-Tech Coordination, Old-School Destruction
The three M1989 Koksans were reportedly concealed in a forested area, shielded by makeshift anti-drone grills likely meant to deflect FPV kamikaze drones. But those defenses didn’t help.
Ukrainian drone operators spotted the artillery pieces and coordinated a strike using either HIMARS cluster munitions or conventional rockets, depending on the source. In either case, the result was the same: multiple heavy artillery platforms taken off the board in a single volley.
