Ukraine Can Win in 2025 — Here’s How
It’s more than hope. It’s a guarantee.
Before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, I interviewed a number of Ukrainian soldiers who were fighting against the invaders in the Donbas.
At the time, I called it “Europe’s forgotten war,” because from 2015 to 2021, very few people were paying attention to Ukraine’s struggle.
When I asked these soldiers what they needed more of from the US, they responded unanimously “More modern weapon systems!”
But one thing I observed when talking to these men and women was their refusal to accept Russian rule over even a square inch of Ukrainian land.
When Russia invaded in force in the winter of 2022, back when Russia was perceived to have a modern, lethal military, I already started thinking about how Ukraine could fight a guerrilla war once Russia fully conquered.
Of course, that’s not what happened. Many in the West, myself included, were surprised at both the Russian military’s lack of combat effectiveness and Ukraine’s tech genius.
But the biggest lesson I learned was the Ukrainian spirit, defiance, and an unwillingness to be conquered.
