This is Why Russia Attacks Civilian Targets in Ukraine
It seems like a day doesn’t pass without hearing about a new Russian missile attack on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, like this Russian missile terror at a high-rise apartment building in Dnipro yesterday.
For those of us who served in the U.S. military, watching Russia intentionally target noncombatants is simultaneously repulsive and shocking.
Granted, the U.S. has killed civilians in war — but by and large, today’s U.S. military leaders go to great lengths to minimize civilian suffering.
They’re not always successful, but at least they try.
When Russia invaded Ukraine, reports started surfacing of deliberate Russian missile attacks against regular Ukrainian people.
Not long after, reports of Russian atrocities fueled talk of war crimes.
The United States learned the hard way that military violence should be targeted and specific. Not only does attacking unarmed civilians serve no military objective (other than terror), but it also enrages and activates the surviving civilians against your cause.
In executing its Global War on Terror, how many terrorists did the U.S. create, I wonder?
So why is Putin, a balding man famous for selling cheap vintage military equipment…
