The imposters and scammers are back

Hey friends, Wes here. This is just a short PSA about someone using my name (with minor variations) and profile photo on this platform. I’ve seen them lurking in the comments, interacting with my readers, and trying to lure you away using shady WhatsApp links.

Interestingly, right at the same time, I noticed the exact same thing happening on my YouTube channel — and some of my YouTube subscribers actually fell for the imposter’s scam and sent them money thinking it was me.

I banned that imposter from my YouTube channel, however, Medium doesn’t give me this option (that I know of). The best I can do is report the individual for harassment.

Okay, so here’s the thing: I will never ask my readers for money and I will never try to send you links that take you off site — unless those links are references hyperlinked inside a piece of content.
