The ‘Ghosts of Bakhmut’ Sniper Team Claims 524 Dead Russian Soldiers

My mentor once told me that to succeed in the military or business world, get good at measuring and communicating ‘impact’.

The now-infamous Ukrainian town of Bakhmut is presently in Russian hands — but not for long if the 20-man ‘Ghosts of Bakhmut’ sniper team can make an outsized impact.

The BBC recently scored an exclusive interview with the team as they attempt to kill, terrorize, and demoralize Russian invaders in and around Bakhmut in Eastern Ukraine — a town that took the Russians nearly a year to conquer.

The sniper team’s leader, nicknamed ‘Ghost’, calls the front line the “edge of existence.” Their base is well within Russian artillery range, but Ghost isn’t bothered by it. “You can hide from artillery, but not from a sniper”.

The team operates primarily at night and hunts top Russian military officers.

When asked how many they’ve killed, Ghost said 524 Russians — these are confirmed electronically and recorded from the team’s sniper scopes.

Ghost says his personal count is 76.

But not everyone is keen to keep score of their kills. One sniper, nicknamed ‘Kuzyu’, said the kill count is nothing to be proud of. Before the war, Kuzyu worked in a factory and never touched…
