The U.S. Army Green Berets are one of the most misunderstood units among America’s elite special operators.

Unlike Navy SEALs, who seem to get all the attention, Army Special Forces are the “quiet professionals.”

While the Navy SEALs have great hair, a perfect jawline, and a bright career in Hollywood as “advisors” once they separate, the Army Special Forces are putting in work and quietly making the world safer.

Army Special Forces are guerrilla warfare experts and trainers who often deploy to train and equip foreign allied military forces like Ukraine.

When Russia annexed Crimea in 2014 and seized the Donbas, U.S. Special Operations Command ramped up its training, assistance, and advising for Ukrainian forces.

This task fell to the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) out of Fort Carson, Colorado, including their 1st Battalion based in Stuttgart, Germany.

The quality of that specialized training, and the conventional training provided by regular U.S. Army units to Ukrainians, is now on display for the world to see. Ukraine is not only holding its own against a much larger force but is now on the offensive.
