Members of my family have lamented the era we live in going so far as to claim we live in an oppressive regime and that your rights will soon be taken away by “the Dems.” Is life in America so apocalyptic right now that people actually believe we live in an authoritarian Dem state? Last I checked, it was a conservative court that took the most recent right away - one that Americans had enjoyed since Roe. I don’t understand the alternate reality where some people think the U.S. is on the verge of martial law yet still freely drive their crossovers to Baskin Robbins without worrying about roadside IEDs.
