Joshua, thanks for the response. To answer your questions:

You mentioned eating whatever you want, did/do you find yourself eating more healthily as your body started feeling better?

The answer is yes. I absolutely made healthier food choices for my evening meal, however, I didn’t count calories or worry about eating too much bread occasionally. I ate until I was full, even if that meant leaving food on the plate. Eventually, my wife started serving smaller portions when she realized how much food was being wasted. Once a week, I would eat what we would consider “bad” food: pizza, Qdoba, etc.

When your weight stabilized, did you find yourself needed to eat more because you already used up your fat stores?

Actually, no. In fact, my stomach had contracted so much that if I wanted to eat more, I would feel overfull, which is very uncomfortable for me.

How do you think you would do without the coffee? Would you feel sluggish?

Very good question about the coffee. I’ve never tried to quit. I would imagine that I would have some pretty severe caffeine withdrawal. Perhaps after stopping coffee for some time, I could switch to green tea or something less caffeinated.
