It Feels Like Something Bad is Coming

And I’m normally overly optimistic…

Author’s note: I wrote this a few days before the barbarity perpetrated against Israel by Hamas terrorists. My heart hurts for those families now struggling to make sense of the violence and loss. Please stay strong. America stands with you. I’ve updated the commentary to reflect the attack.

Rant start — indulge me in this temporary departure from my normal fare.

Maybe it’s just me, but doesn’t it feel like something bad is on the horizon?

Look, my articles are typically optimistic — I’ll leave the doom-writing and doomscrolling to others.

But it feels like we are collectively experiencing a sense of dread for some sort of impending trial or tribulation. In my forty years of life, I don’t think I’ve ever felt anything like it.

It could be nothing.

Or it could be the beginning of the end for global civilization.

This is what worries me in no particular order:

· Russian aggression in Ukraine triggering NATO Article 5

· Iranian aggression against Israel via Hamas and Hezbollah

· A Chinese invasion of Taiwan because the U.S. is distracted
