Small Drones vs. Force Recon: Which is Better?
Imagine yourself deep behind enemy lines with a small detachment of three other soldiers. You’ve been sitting for four days in the same spot — a particularly vile piece of low-lying terrain in a dense forest that fills up quickly with water every time it rains.
It sucks… but you know that the enemy doesn’t think anyone would be stupid enough to camp in a swamp.
You’ve been waiting on a column of Russian armor that’s expected to fortify the front nearby and your job is to get an accurate count of enemy troops. Bonus if you can spot their patches and identify their unit.
But the Russians never show.
In preparation to move deeper into enemy territory, your team waits until night. You down a 5-Hour Energy shot and carefully stow the trash in your cargo pocket. The Americans were fond of ‘Rip Its’ in Afghanistan to give them energy, but these small 5-Hour shots are easier to pack.
This far behind enemy lines, Russian mines aren’t an issue. But some Russian units have rudimentary night vision so you’re careful with your movements, carefully picking out the route between concealment.
Just before the sun comes up, you reach a better position and quickly assign the security rotation. Two men sleep while two keep watch. After a few hours, you wake…
