Soft Recoil Technology (SRT) is the new hotness for all your anti-Russia needs.

When I was in the Army infantry, they called us the “Queen of Battle” which, if I’m being honest, I always thought was a little weird.

After all, I served at a time when the infantry was hyper-masculine — boys don’t cry, heart breakers and life takers — all that stuff.

I can only guess that since the “Queen” is the most lethal, and most mobile piece in the game of chess, the Queen of Battle was an acknowledgment that infantry (and logistics) win wars.

And while they called the infantry the Queen of Battle, our comrades over in artillery were the Kings.

During the Global War on Terror, we were all but ready to stick a fork in artillery as a dying occupational specialty.

“Time to reclassify to a new job, Kings of Battle. Artillery is dead. Come join the infantry where the only thing darker than our jokes, is our coffee. We own the night.”

But times are changing.

Artillery is back in a big way. According to the veteran news blog Task & Purpose, more than 70% of casualties in Ukraine can be attributed to artillery alone.
