Our children allow us to experience the world as if it were new again — with a sense of awe at the subtle machinery of nature.

The sun is as beautiful as it is terrifying.

The first time I caught a rerun episode of Cosmos with Carl Sagan on PBS in the 1990s, I was captivated.

Sagan’s unique and melodic voice was almost hypnotizing as he explained the inner workings of cosmology — at least, our knowledge of the cosmos as of 1980 when the show first aired.
